How to maximize your 24 hours?

May 30, 2016

There is only 24 hours available in a day. Whether you are a multi billionaire or living on the streets that is what everybody have. The ones who succeeds the most in life is the one is available to get the most out of those hours. Success or failure will depend heavily on how you spend them and your ability to time management. We have many examples of people that have succeeded and there are many role models that can inspire us. I am really inspired by a Norwegian business man called Peter Stordalen. Stordalen owns hotels all over Scandinavia and started his business selling strawberries in his home town. What a journey that guy has had, from selling strawberry to owning hotels, wow!

I read an interview of him recently and I understood how important it is to use your time correctly. Off course, you can choose your hobbies but then you will only end being good in that. I am not so sure that will give you a life full of success but for some that is enough and I fully respect that. But if you want to succeed in something, whether it is to create your own business or making a career you have to work hard and maximize your 24 hours a day.

Stordalen was saying in the interview that he got up at 5 am every morning to workout before he went to his office and worked all day until late in the evening. He even told the magazine that he had calendar sex with his wife haha. That is taking your schedule really seriously. I don’t know whether I’m there yet and hopefully I will have sex with my boyfriend when we want to and not according to our calendars. But it gives a picture about how crucial time management is.

My boyfriend and I spent a few hours to create a schedule for how we want our day to look like. We firmly believe in time management and know that if we don’t plan our time we will end up poor and unhappy in life. I admit that I find it a bit challenging to structure my life and fortunately I get help from my love Johan who has experience from doing so from his studies. I don’t want to life a life where I have no meaning in my everyday life and do not get things done everyday. I want to maximize every hour in a day and that is why I have planed my schedule accordingly. You will not achieve anything in life spending 24/7 on social medias. Now we have a plan from Monday to Friday to be able to be as productive as possible during the week and we have added some spare time during the weekends to rest and have some fun.

Sometimes my blog can distract and I can get too focused on blog things and then not be able to do the other things in life. It is easy to think that blogging is the only thing in life but for those of us who does not have blog as a full time job and not generating enough income that blogging can pay the bills we need to go to work and live the normal life. I admit that I would love to have blogging as my full time job one day in the future but for now I have to concentrate on my boss demands haha.

It is incredible how much time you have in a day if you think about what you spend your time on. I would say that if I am able to live my life according a schedule then you can do it as well haha

I will now tell you step by step how we did it

  1. Write 24 hours on sheet (the total number of hours in a day)
  2. Subtract the number of hours needed to sleep
  3. Write down every duty and how much time you need to spend on all of them.
  4. Subtract the total number of hours in #3 from #2. This is the number of hours you have available after doing what you have to do.
  5. Reorganize your time if you feel that some of those were not correct the first time you did it. If it is enough then you can go out and enjoy your spare time with remaining hours.
  6. Write the schedule on your mobile. It becomes much easier to pay attention to your schedule in that way.

You will become what you spend your time on. I believe that you can become anything you want in life as long as you spend your time correctly and work hard. If billionaires have the same number of hours in a day then everyone can succeed as well. Find your talent and start working!

Share it with your friends and if you know someone in particular that need some help in structuring his or her time then I would definitely encourage you to share it with that person. 🙂

Take care!

Wow…charting out each hour of the day! Seems like quite a thing to do! Well, I don’t think I can plan my day to that extent…my day is usually waking up at 5, two hours of workout, some cozy time with my boyfriend, getting ready coming to work, working all day (whatever experiments I need to do – I am a researcher) and then heading for a swim and back home to cuddle up and do what I feel like doing 😀 Sure, I do miss out on some things some times but I love my life this way..!
And who doesn’t want blogging to be a full time job?!!! Of course we all do 😀

I sometimes write myself lists with things I need to do that day…I do need to manage my time much better though as I don’t always get to the end of my list!
