My English Brazilian accent (vlog)

August 22, 2016

Happy weekend everyone It is Friday! 😀

Today has been such a wonderful day in Norway with blue skies and sunshine. We are desperate for days like these because it is very rare that we have it haha. It was really nice to have a day off from work so that I could spend some time with my boyfriend and a friend of us Janne.

I promised to make a video about my Brazilian accent when I am speaking English and I took the opportunity to make it today because of the lovely weather and at the same time show my city in beautiful sunshine.

You can watch the video below to get a insight of my city and off course hear my funny accent which will give you a laugh as a good start to the weekend. I am actually a bit embarrassed for posting it since I did not like to listen to my accent.

Your English is great, and I’m curious about your accent? Do you think you have a partly-Norwegian accent? It doesn’t seem as strong as other Brazilian people I’ve met. I’m really interested in Brazilian/Portuguese pronunciation, as it seems so different from English. I’ve noticed a lot of Brazilian students adding an “ee” sound to the end of words, but also sometimes not pronouncing it in words like “movie” or “coffee,” for example.

My boyfriend says that I might have a Norwegian accent as well since I have been living here for over 10 years. About adding ee to it I would say that maybe the Brazilians from the north are doing it but not so many from Sao Paolo and Rio because we have a different dialect. However, Italians do it a lot. 🙂

I sometimes forget just how big Brazil is: there must be so many different dialects!

And yes, I adore her. You have to watch her sing the American national anthem on David letterman
