Today's special guest; Roberto

August 26, 2016
Hello fabulous people! Today I have the honour to present the first guest of my new series “today’s special guest”
Hi there Roberto. Thanks for accepting my invitation to be a guest on my blog today.
Thank you Roberta for inviting me to be interviewed in your blog which is an island of positivity and happiness sorely needed in this world. It is a pleasure and an honor to be interviewed by you and your blog.
1.What made you want to start blogging?
In the beginning of the 21st Century [in America and especially within the Latin Community as well as Latin America], there was a beginning of monopolization of information and culture by the few. Alternative viewpoints and modes of transmissions such as shortwave radio was fading into history. It was at that time that I decided to start blogging.
Another reason was that at middle age, I started to have the midlife crisis of wanting to write. I started by writing books dealing with health in 2003. My other occupation was a Dr. of Medicine working in the Administrative Realm. In 2006, I started to write sports [since I love football] and won a contest from Univision [a US Latin TV Station]. In Univision, I was a Sports Writer covering the 2006 World Cup for one month.
After finishing this period in my life, I did not want to lose the practice of writing or journalism. In August 2006, I started my blog “El Noticiero Alvarez-Galloso” with the purpose of sports and culture. The blog acquired a life of its own and then I went with WordPress in 2007. The rest is a journey.
2.How would you describe your blog to someone that never read it?
It is a mixture of sports, nature, and alternative culture.
In sports, I report about football especially about Spain, La Liga, USA, MLS [Major League Soccer], NASL [North American Soccer League]. I write articles or record videos of sports either in events or interviewing artists who support their favorite team. Most of my sports videos are filmed with a background in nature so that people can appreciate the beauties of Southern Florida.
Within Alternative Culture, I interview artists [Christian and Secular] with the purpose of promoting their music and careers as a fresh start to people who are tired of the mainstream media. My background here could be in a hotel, restaurant, beach, or natural setting. The purpose here again is to promote Florida. I also promote Classical Spanish and Latin American Culture.
I have used my blog to also give publicity to God with Bible Verses. It was an idea that I learned while in Puerto Rico where my wife is from.
3.What’s your favourite part of blogging?
The writing and making of videos since both are spontaneous
4.What is the most difficult things about blogging? And what do you find the easiest?
The difficult part is finding information to write or comment about as well as inviting people to be interviewed. The easiest is when everything is reconciled [found the information, inspiration, and the person invited to be interviewed accepts the invitation]
5.How much time do you spend on blogging?
Depends on the day, time, and how I feel. I would usually spend two to three hours blogging.
6.What do you think is the best social media strategy to get more visitors to a blog?
All of them are great although I use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
7.Would you encourage other people to make their blog?
If the person has an idea, is creative and wants to express it for the good of humanity, then by all means do it. But this is not an easy task since there is competition from the mainstream and from other bloggers. There are some who are nice but there are others…. Will leave it like that. But regardless, people who have an idea and want to start a blog should do it after they find the subject that is interesting to them and the reader.
8.How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
The desire to share new things or information with my public motivates me.
9.What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
Attempting to maintain the creative juices
10.Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?
Roberta Pimental for her ability to accentuate the positive [taking a quote from the  American Singer Bing Crosby] to make people feel better.
Zoe Ruiz for her novel “Historias Furtivas” from Chile which is one of the greatest 21st Century Novels.
Zoe Valdes for her articles about Cuba and the world as well as reading her articles and novels.
Adri Bosch for the reasons above.
Various sports blogs for information about football.
11.What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?
Depends on what one feels comfortable with. The best strategy overall is to be true to yourself and the reader as well as networking with other bloggers. The rest resolves itself.
12.What are you doing besides blogging?
Spending time with my wife, bowling, going to different areas such as sport and cultural events and even bowling. I am also a stamp, coin, vinyl records and paper money collector.
 13. Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you Roberta for your interview in your blog. It was great talking to you. Those who are interested can visit me at For programs in English, you can visit AMI Radio at
My best wishes to you and your readers as well as the rest of the world. Peace In, Peace Out, and Peace Everywhere or [as the Texas Singer Laura Marie would say] “Be Love”
