Today's investment

Before I tell you the investment of today I have to share something funny that happened today. Johan likes to experience and try things out which left some marks on me today. We have been talking about buying some new equipment for our gym sessions and went online to search for it. The only place where it was available was a little bit outside the city. Johan searched on his GPS and told me which bus to take.

We took the bus believing that we were heading for the right direction but he had guided us to the wrong side of town. Instead of asking some locals he had to try himself and we ended up walking for 20 minutes to the place where we were suppose to go at in the beginning. He promised me to ask next time haha. We were really lucky to come across a very kind woman who explained the way for us. She was a little bit surprised when we told her that we would like to walk and told us that it was so far away. We just smiled and told her that we could need some exercise haha. 

We have ended our subscription at the gym. There are two main reasons for this. The first one is that Johan will hopefully get a job very soon and he will not have time to go to the gym in the morning before work. Yes we like to go to the gym in the morning since it gives such a boost throughout the day. Actually working out in the evening can disturb your sleep. We also get a little bothered since the gym use to be very full and we have to wait for the machines.

The second one is that we will save a lot of money exercising at home instead of paying to the gym. Further, there are some other reasons like not having to leave home to exercise and not having to walk out in all kind of weather to go to the gym. Actually the cheapest gym costs 199 kr a month which is $24. Today we spent around 800 kr ($96) including the taxi for bringing it home since it was too heavy to carry. After some months we will actually break even and start to save money instead.

We bought weights up till 20 kilos, two exercise mats, a jump rope, an exercise ball and and a pilates ring. The last one is mostly for me. Now we are really looking forward to start on Monday morning and get in shape. Too many excuses have been made during the summer but now we are done making excuses and will commit to exercise every day. Can’t wait..

    Gym at home is better provided there is self discipline which is helped by a huge amount of desire to exercise for the right reasons. The major gyms here in South Africa force members to long term contracts so one will be paying for months even when they stop going. All the best with your new investment. ?

    I think its a great idea, it might in some ways need a lot of self discipline but so does walking to the gym. You’ll start saving money really soon too!

    Walking for 20 minutes is not bad as a start to establish a gym in your house…..walk up to the store in instalments and perhaps you will not need gym at your home…..hahaha????

    Currently, the only exercise I do at home is 50 minutes of Taebo and I walk every morning for about 25 minutes. Still trying to get to the gym but until then this is my daily routine.
