Today’s special guest has a message on his blog that I am very fan of which is how to grow personally. I think that it is crucial for a human being to develop personally and being self conscious is a good way of achieving development in our lives. Check out what he has to say and visit his blog. 🙂
Hi Dean, so nice to have you here today! Thanks for accepting my invitation!
Hi Roberta, It’s good to be here and thank you for inviting me!
Q.1) Can you tell use a little about yourself and what have inspired you to start a blog?
Sure! I’m a 21 year old university student, born and raised in Ireland, who has a passion for blogging and athletics. Travelling, video games, movies and going out are also activities in my life. I can be considered as quite a shy person (like most of us bloggers) but very creative and easy going. Staying positive, determined and motivated to succeed is a concept I strongly adhere too also! I always loved writing so blogging was something I always had in the back of my mind. Once I was fully introduced to it by a friend in college, I never looked back. He had a successful blog and that was when i started to think about blogging myself. It’s inspiring to think you can connect with and help others through the words and medium of a blog.
Q.2) How would you describe your blogging style to someone that never read it?
My style of writing is personal and distinct in its meaning. Build a dean is a personal blog that is aimed to assist people in deconstructing and reconstructing themselves into a better and happier version of themselves. I do this through writing my own experiences in life and try to motivate people to know that being yourself and unique is better than following another person’s shadow. My blog allows people to stay motivated, positive and find the positives in their lives, instead of the negatives.
Q.3) What do you think is the best service a blogger can provide to his readers?
I think being genuine is very important. A genuine story that others can connect with and relate too. Connection is vital, whether it be reading other peoples blogs, liking a post or comment on a post. You don’t want to go down the spam root though, it’s easily visible to the eye. Hence why genuine connection is very important. I want to provide a service to my readers that is helpful and motivating for them. To help them see that if you stay positive and determined things will go your way. There will be bumps in the road but you have to keep travelling forward. It may take time but you’ll get there eventually and it will be the happiest time in your life.
Q.4) How long have you been blogging?
Overall, probably 2 years or so, but never consistently. I started my first blog then but never gave any time or effort and hence it crumbled. My current blog (Build a Dean) was started on 31st July 2016, and this is technically when I started blogging seriously.
Q.5) What is the easiest about blogging? And what do you find the most difficult?
I don’t particularity find anything hard about blogging, simply because I enjoy it so much. So it’s easy for me to do the daily blogging tasks that others might find monotonous. Hardest part, if i had to pick one, would probably be building up a genuine audience of readers that will connect with you. At the end of the day, It’s great to know that someone is reading your blog!
Q.6) What are your goals for your blog?
To grow an audience that I can connect with and motivate. To keep telling my stories and experiences in the hope that it will help even one person out there.
Q.7) Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
Just a hobby. A very passionate hobby of mine though!
Q.8) A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are interested in making money from the blog?
My tip would be to not think about making money, because that’s not why you should start a blog. A blog needs to be passionate and genuine, not false and striving towards money making. If you create a blog for the sole purpose of making money, I think it will not succeed. For those who make money, that’s great for them and I’m sure it is well earned. It takes time. Rome wasn’t built in a day! Unfortunately, I don’t have any tips for this question as my blog doesn’t make money.
Q.9) What has been your strategy for creating visibility to yourself and your blog?
Connecting with people on WordPress as much as possible, whether it be reading, commenting or liking other blogs. Sparking up a genuine conversation and always replying to a comment is a necessity. Also, social media is important. Try to grow as many social media outlets as possible and get your blog’s name out there!
Q.10) Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?
As I’ve mentioned above, my friend in university was the catalyst with his blogging experience. I also knew two girls, who used to be in my secondary school, that started blogs and became very successful (Love Life and Insight ). They were inspiring in the sense that i knew them and saw it was possible if you were passionate and true to yourself. to succeed in blogging.
Q.11) How much time do you spend blogging?
I think the hours are uncountable really. Anytime I’m not training, studying or working then I’m on my blog. I spend many hours on it but its not a nuisance as I love it. It’s probably why I spend so much time blogging!
Q.12) What do you do in your spare time?
I am currently a university student studying English and History. Aside from academic work, I have a huge passion for athletics. I’m a sprinter so i’d like to think i’m relatively fast!
Q.13) Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites? Feel free to link them 🙂
I don’t really have a favourite blog as such. I enjoy reading a lot of different types of blogs., I have connected well with a few of my followers who have great blogs and are also great people. They are Auspicious Attraction, The Novelty of Happiness and Mad Cap Dog. Along with many other great blogs. People really do put up great content here!
Q.14) Did you have any professional help or did you created the blog yourself?
I created it all from scratch myself! I had a friend before who owned his own blog and he was a lot of help when it came to the basics of blogging. YouTube and the internet are my friends also when it comes to valuable blogging info and creation!
Q.15) What do you think is the best social media strategy for getting more visitors to a blog? Do you have any other strategy for get more visitors?
Don’t be afraid to show your friends and invite them to see it. I know it might be hard at first but they will generally connect with you, I mean you do know them at the end of the day. Also, consistency. Try to post something everyday and link it to your blog. The more people see, the better it is for you and your blog. Add hashtags and tags also.
Q.16) If you had to describe yourself in two words, witch two words it be and why?
Motivated and focused.
Q.17) Is there anything else you would like to add?
Stay positive, stay determined, and stay focused. Three essential ingredients in a successful and happy life. Prepare yourself for a ride of ups and downs but make sure you keep pushing forward. Life works in a funny way and hits us with numerous sucker punches. You have to stay strong and know that once you get over them things will be alright. Stay true to yourself and don’t chase other peoples shadows. It’s better to be who you are than copy another. You have unique abilities and traits that others don’t have, so learn and embrace them. Be happy 🙂
