Hello Beautiful readers! I have always been fascinated about the space and the unknown out there. This started after I participated in a simulation room where it simulated the space and I have been fascinated ever since. If you are like me and is curious about the space then you have to visit Simon‘s blog. If the space is not a favourite then it is worth paying him a visit since he also writes about other stuff. Please give Simon a warm welcome and spread some love!
Hi there Simon. Thanks you for accepting my invitation to be a guest on my blog today. It is a pleasure to have you here today!
1. what made you want to start blogging?

I started blogging on the advice of a work friend. She was saying that ‘I have something to say’ and sure enough i do. When I started this was about all kinds of random stuff and sometimes how I was thinking and feeling. Then I started writing about some of the stories that had been gathering in my head as well as blogging about the interesting and the everyday things and here we are, Planet Simon in it’s entireity!

2. How would you describe your blog to someone that never read it?

Someone who has never read my blog would struggle to find a theme. There is a reason for this, there isn’t one. The only theme really is me, it’s techie, geeky, spacey Sci-fi with a touch of interesting random stuff and poetry themed blog. If they’re still confused then they just need to read it.

3. What’s your favourite part of blogging?

I’m not sure i have a favourite part of blogging, but I often wonder how and why some things work and some don’t. Timing has a great deal to do with it I think but I also love all the great bloggies that I talk to.

4. What is the most difficult things about blogging? And what do you find the easiest?

Finding time to blog is the hardest thing, but chatting to the guys and reading others blogs is the easiest I think.

 5. How much time do you spend on blogging?

It varies, but I don’t spend enough time blogging. I could easily use my days blogging.

6. What do you think is the best social media strategy to get more visitors to a blog?

I don’t have a strategy for getting visitors to my blog. I think that works best when you blog a theme but as I don’t have one it’s hard to know where to target my material. But my posts are automatically put into my @planet_simon Twitter account and into Google+ i don’t think I get much back from this but it takes minimal effort so why not. I have good advice from others about the right social networks to use but it’s maintaining it all that is a struggle and I don’t want to lose myself in too much social media.

7. Would you encourage other people to make their blog?

I would encourage others to start a blog, but it’s not easy and it takes hard work so it’s not for everyone.

8. How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

My bloggies are my motivation to keep blogging, I’ve built up a good group of friends and I’m part of a great community that i want to keep being a part of.

9. What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

So far I’m going through a time where I have little time to commit to blogging, I find writing a therapy so this is hard for me.

10. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites? Feel free to link them

 My favourite bloggies are probably:

Erika Kind:
Sacha Black:

These are only some of my favourite bloggers and the ones I’ve talked to most. They are all great in their own different ways and good friends. I have other out there that I know as well as or better but these are the ones I’m listing. I love all my bloggies they have made this project so rewarding!

11. What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

I dont have a strategy for getting readers to my blog, I know I should look at SEO and all of that stuff but I write and people like or not.

 12. What are you doing besides blogging?

Besides blogging I’m working, trying g to make a magazine which I’m hoping may turn into a commercial venture if it grows big enough. I’m trying to get time to read, write books and stories and all of that but it’s time at the end of the day and there are all kinds of drains on it!

13. Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?

At the moment blogging is a hobby, but i would love it to turn into a profession.

14. A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are interested in making money from the blog?

If you’re blogging to make money it won’t happen easily, getting the number of followers to make it work will take time and with so many blogs out there you need to be noticed. I have been asked about it a few times and how to do it as if it’s a five minute thing. I usually dont hear back when I tell them its hard work. Once you have a brand and an audience I think you can make money, but it’s still going to be hard as your audience needs entertaining and if you use your blog to advertise then you need to write posts for the advertisements to get out there. So… no easy ride here.

 15. Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thanks for giving me this opportunity on your blog, it’s appreciated and I hope you find a way to keep blogging as i can tell you enjoy it. The only thing I can think to add is everyone needs to make sure that they know that life changes, sometime we can’t blog or maybe even give up. While I’m not giving up I’ve found this to be a hard time to find time to write. Take it easy, go with the flow of life and enjoy the ride.

Thank you Simon for answering my question!

I’m Patrick, and I thought I would visit your blog. I thought that this interview was written in very “authentic” language. What I mean is that I could relate to Simon by seeing his responses to the interviewer who was asking him questions. I am interested now in looking at his blog myself.
