Living close to the centrum of the city has many benefits like bein able walk to downtown both for city shopping and for the night life, living an urban life by having everything nearby and so on. We really appreciate to live so near to the city since both Johan and I are urban people who could never survive in the countryside haha. However, it also has its challenges. One of those is that the apartments are really expensive and therefore you have to rent a small one if you are not planning to spend everything you earn on rent. We have been fascinated about tiny house programs on TV. It is so interesting to see how they are able to live in houses that are twice as small as the apartment of Johan and I and how they are able to store everything. We have had a challenge with our wardrobe that has bothered us for some time but today we came up with an idea that we think we will be satisfied with for a long time. You can judge for yourself and hopefully tell me what you think.
As you can see on the picture above we separated my closet into two in order to be able to hang up the clothes since I think that I am able to take more care of them in that way. It was a complete mess before since they were so crumpled when they were lying in the closet and they looked so ugly. Now I know exactly where everything is and I can pick one that I want to wear without having to pull out everything.
It was a real challenge to be able to make place for all our jackets and shoes but with our new system you can see that we now have separated our jackets into two categories, casual jackets below and dress coats and my coats above.
We feel that it gives a better atmosphere in the hall since we think it looks more organised in this way. It is really important since it is the first sight you get when entering our apartment. I hate mess and when we live in such a small apartment it gets messy very fast if things are not organised.
This is Johan’s casual wardrobe. OMG!! can you see the mess!!?? No wonder why he wanted to do this and when I look at the pictures I can understand why he was been nagging about doing something about it for weeks now. The trays made his closet very unorganised since the clothes got so crumpled. You can see on the picture to the right how organised he has made his closet now. I must say that I am impressed by him. I love to have a man that likes to take care of his clothing and wants to look good.
As I have told you before Johan is working as an accountant and therefor his clothing is important because he is in contact with customers and then it is important to look well dressed. He has made himself a business wardrobe today because he wanted to have place for his dresses, shirts, belts, shoes and so on in his closet. Having an own business wardrobe makes it easier in the morning to find what he is looking for without making a mess.
Since we are renting the apartment we did not want to make any damages to the walls. Therefore, we went to IKEA to buy curtain rods which is the white thing that we used to hang our clothes on.
I am so proud of Johan since he is not a practical person rather someone who likes to use his head before his hands. However, he has used the hacksaw, the hammer and screwdriver today to make everything possible and I must say that I am a bit shocked as well haha
I must say that this was a very big project and we have used the whole Saturday to finish it and I am so glad that we are done and that we can finally enjoy our weekend. I would love to hear your thoughts about our project. What do yo think?
