Today’s special guest; Laura

September 2, 2016

Happy Friday it’s finally weekend! 😀 It is time to enjoy time with friends or family.

I want to present you today’s special guest and this guest has a very strong story to share. I encourage you to give her a warm welcome!

Hi there Laura. Thanks you for accepting my invitation today. It is a pleasure to have you here  Thanks so much for asking me, Roberta! It’s an honor to let you into my life.

Q.1) What made you want to start blogging?

I knew I was headed in the direction of writing a book, so I began writing on Facebook to “practice.” Around the same time, I felt God pointing me in the direction of starting a business, which led me to create Flames of Glory.

Q.2) How would you describe your blog to someone that never read it?
My blog is my life lived out loud in order. You’ll come across faith, fear, heartache, love, loss, friendship, betrayal, etc. …life lived out loud from my heart to your eyes.

Q.3) What’s your favourite part of blogging?
My favorite part of blogging is the honesty. I don’t write for anyone other than me, but I always hope someone will read it and find help from it.
Q.4) What is the most difficult things about blogging? And what do you find the easiest?
For these questions, I’ll start with the easiest first. The easiest part about blogging to me is being transparent. I love telling you ‘how it is’ from the inside out, but now, since I’ve been married, the most difficult part about blogging is being transparent. When an open book (me) marries a closed book (my husband), it’s difficult to turn the pages.
Q.5) How much time do you spend on blogging?
Right now, I don’t spend as much time as I’d like, but that’s because I’m afraid I’ll reveal too much, but usually, I spend around fourteen hours a week blogging and don’t do nearly enough reading of other blogs.
Q.6) What do you think is the best social media strategy to get more visitors to a blog?
Okay, for this one, I haven’t really figured it out. In the beginning, I’d no idea what “blogging” really was. Then, for a time, I thought my website “needed” traffic for a successful business. Now, I just write, when I have the courage to do so. Of course, it’s nice to have people interested in your heart, but for me, it’s not a necessity.
Q.6) Would you encourage other people to make their blog?
I would and I have encouraged others to make a blog.
Q.7) How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
In the past, I haven’t needed motivation to write. I simply lived my life and wrote it out. Now, I’m unhappily married, living in a different state (physically and emotionally), doubting decisions (at times), mothering kids who’re dealing with depressive thoughts, etc., and with all that, it seems I need to find the strength to write and the courage to know how much to reveal. It’s like an octopus scale, and I’m not quite sure what motivates me to keep writing (comments, friends, God, pain, sadness).
Q.8) What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
The last three months have been the most difficult for me because I’m the type of person to write what I feel, but lately I’ve been told, what I’m feeling, I shouldn’t write about. My writing has been very special between me and God but very open between me and whoever wants to read it.
Q.9) Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?
To only name “some” is challenging: Words in the Light because his poetry sings to my heart; Eyes + Words because he writes how I feel; All About Healthy Choices because I “need” to make them; Send Sunshine because she sends sunshine; and many others.
Q.10) What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?
I’ve yet to find that strategy.
Q.11) What are you doing besides blogging?
The transition in moving from San Diego to Texas, from single mom to married woman, from house of peace to house of discomfort…has taken up a lot of my time, but I love to hold my granddaughter, dance with my flags, grow more in love with God, and find my way through His heart.
Q.12) Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
Actually, until the other day, I never realized one could make money from it.
Q.13) Is there anything else you would like to add?
We’re all unique. I love having the freedom to be myself without being judged and enjoy letting others do the same.
