Q.1) What or who inspired you to start blogging?

Last year was pretty rough for me, blogging was basically an escape or a coping mechanism but slowly I started enjoying it.

Q.2) Can you describe your blog to someone that never read it?

It’s a mixed bag of sorts, but mostly I write about mental health related topics and immigrant life and a million refrences to the harry potter series.

Q.3) What’s your favourite part of blogging?

Getting to know fellow bloggers from all over the globe is pretty amazing.

Q.4) What is the most difficult things about blogging? And what do you find the easiest?

The most difficult thing for me is still hitting that publish button. It was very easy to blog when nobody was reading it but now I try to please everybody which is an impossible task. Easiest is getting to read great content on this blogosphere, it’s incredible.

Q.5) How much time do you spend on blogging?

About an hour every day

Q.6) What do you think is the best social media strategy to get more visitors to a blog?

I think instagram is a great platform since the hashtags and tags work so well, it is realtively easier to get noticed as there are pages that have a great number of followers featuring content for you if they find it intersting.

Q.7) Is blogging worth doing? Would you encourage other people to make their blog?

I would definitely encourage it. It is a great learning experience and a practice to get over the writerly insecurities.

Q.8) How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

The wordpress community is very encouraging and the feedback I receive is a very good motivator to keep going.

Q.9) What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

I am curious about a lot of different things and hence the content gets a bit all over the place from time to time. I still struggle with trying to keep it focused.

Q.10) Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?

There is a blogger named Rian Kerfoot, her blog is Truth and Cake. It has some really great content, but she isn’t active there anymore

Q.11) What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

Sharing it on social media handles and using hashtags well seems like a very good strategy. Also, being involved with your readers, replying to every comment. Giving honest feedback on their work as well.

Q.12) What are you doing besides blogging?

I am doing a Phd in Satellite Remote Sensing

Q.13) Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?

It is a hobby as of now

Q.14) A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are interested in making money from the blog?

Unfortunatley not

Q.15)  Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you Roberta for giving me this opportunity. I have come across a great deal of writers through your blog and it is inspiring to see you do that. https://jothetumbleweed.wordpress.com

Really nice hearing the voice behind the blog, Jo! I was especially struck by your observation about what it felt like to blog before having a lot of subscribers, and then feeling more pressure for the audience after becoming more popular. Thank you! 🙂
