Hi Alyssa. Pretty awesome to have you as my special guest here today.
Hello Roberta! Thank you for having me, it’s an honor to be here today! 🙂
1. What or who inspired you to start blogging?
I have always had a passion for writing. Growing up, I would write poetry and short stories. As I got older, I developed a love for health and fitness. I would always share my thoughts, ideas, and secrets of success with my friends and coworkers. Every time I would try a new product, it was the same – I loved discussing it with my family, friends, and coworkers. I started writing on Hubpages six years ago, and I would share some of my favorite papers, essays, and thoughts. It was a lot of fun and I dabbled with it on and off. I love inspiring people and putting positive energy out into the universe and so, in August, I made the decision to start an actual blog and write regularly.. SassyCatK was born and that’s what I’ve been doing since. 🙂
2.Can you describe your blog to someone that never read it?
SassyCatK is a lifestyle blog. I post weekly inspiration, designed to help everyone live his or her best life! (Suggestions are always welcome!) I share my fitness and lifestyle secrets, tips, and tricks; my favorite recipes; product reviews; highlights from my travels and so much more! –and all with a small dash of humor. 🙂
3. What’s your favourite part of blogging?
I have a few. Writing, of course 🙂 It is magical when the words are flowing and you are in that zone.
But I also love interacting with other bloggers. Everyone loves getting likes, but to have someone comment on your piece is amazing! I try to respond to everyone who leaves a comment. I love reading other blogs and I always try to comment on my favorite pieces! Research is huge for me. I love learning new things and then sharing them with my readers, and all of my travel articles include me visiting those places. (It’s a tough job 😉 ) My other favorite part is taking pictures. 🙂 I am not a photographer, but I have a lot of fun creating interesting pictures to accompany my work. Sometimes, it turns into a family event, as I recruit my husband and son to help me.
4. What is the most difficult things about blogging? And what do you find the easiest?
One of the most challenging aspects about blogging, for me, is turning it off. I am always thinking about my blog, whether it is: new topics or ideas, aesthetics, ways to improve my writing, monetization, etc. Sometimes it’s almost impossible to put my phone down, turn off my computer and just relax. Yoga helps a lot. (As does Netflix. Haha!)
The easiest thing for me is just writing. I turn on some music and just let the words flow. I love being in that zone and creating. It’s truly one of the best feelings, I think.
5. What do you think is the best social media strategy to get more visitors to a blog?
I’m pretty new and this is something that I am still trying to figure out myself. Haha! One of the best tips that I have read is simply to share. Share your posts and share your blog across your social media platforms. I think it is also important to connect with other bloggers. Read other blogs, comment, share, become friends with other bloggers on social media. Learn from the people who have come before you and succeeded.
6. Is blogging worth doing? Would you encourage other people to make their blog?
Yes and Yes! Absolutely!
7. How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
I’ll borrow Nike’s trademark phrase here: I just do it. Setting deadlines and having a schedule definitely keeps me organized, and I think that is half the battle. It’s all about mindset for me… My blog is something that I enjoy doing, something I want to do, and something I have chosen to do. I also love to participate in the weekly photo challenges to switch it up a little. 🙂
8. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?
There are so many! A few of my current favorites, aside from yours, Roberta, which I love because you are always sharing blogging tips for success and I love seeing snippets from your daily life, include: LoveMaegan – She has gorgeous style and always has practical tips on fashion and beauty. I love reading reviews and tips from ABrashAttitude and Laura Bruj. I look forward to Doctor Jonathan’s informative health article posts on his blog, All About Healthy Choices. Jay Colby shares inspiring advice and messages that I love; and I am always looking forward to the beautiful pictures that Chris Breebaart shares.
9. Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
As of right now it is a hobby, but I would love to make it my profession.
10. Is there anything else you would like to add?
I just want to say thank you, again, for having me as your guest today. This interview was a lot of fun!
Thank you so much for the interview Alyssa! I’m glad that you had fun 🙂
