My phobias

February 25, 2017

I believe that everyone has some kind of phobias where some has it to a greater extent than others. I like to consider myself as a pretty tough woman but there are some things that freaks me out. Now I will reveal my phobias the things in the world that makes me shiver down my spines.

  1. Snakes

I am terrified of snakes and the bible’s picture of the snake as the devil really fits how I feel about them. I will never understand how people can have a snake living in their living room and how they are able to sleep at night knowing that a snake is living inside a cage in their house. Watching a snake program on TV is like a horror movie for me and it would definitely have given me nightmares when I would go to sleep at night.

I will give you an example to illustrate how afraid I am of snakes. A couple of months ago I saw a man from Thailand on the news that where bit by a snake when he was using the bathroom. This has actually made me afraid of going to the bathroom in my own house because I am afraid that the same thing will happen here haha. My boyfriend shares this phobia with me and he checks the toilet every time he goes in there haha.

2. Flying

I don’t like to put my life in the hands of others and flying is one the things where I feel that I don’t have any control of the situation. When the airplane is ready for takeoff I always start to sweat and I need to order some glasses of wine in order to calm myself ones we are in the air. The phobia of flying is stronger for long flights than short ones but even for short ones I get stressed.

3. Heights

I am living on the third floor in a building complex and that is high enough for me. I could never imagine living in a skyscraper where the people on the ground looks like tiny matches.

What are you afraid of?

Sharing too much on a publicly read blog, like what I am afraid of:) I feel is gives too much power to others but that’s just my fear apparently.

Bugs and insects are definitely my phobia. If it has more than four legs, I want it dead.
I can handle lady bugs though. They’re nice.

    I’m a bit claustrophobic

Roads – I passed my test years ago but do not drive. I don’t like crossing them, let alone with young children (like with a friend’s tot yesterday). I went for a long bike ride today which was a big deal for me – no mishaps but I cannot relax properly!

Bees and other things that sting.
@Roberta I think fear of snakes is normal, I mean you don’t know which ones are poisionous and which are harmless, but I’m talking about small snakes.

So scared of snakes. When I was a kid I used to force myself to read library books about snakes and touch the pictures but even in my adult life now I cringe whenever I see them on TV or anywhere.

I don’t really have any phobias. (At least none that I’m aware of.)

    Do reality shows count? 😛

My biggest fear is needles. While on active duty I was required by regulation to have a flu shot every year and got maybe three because I couldn’t avoid them. Something going into my eyes is another, I wear glasses not contacts.

I know English is not your native language and I know English can be hard to catch on to so I will politely point out an error. In your sentence about the Thai news report, the word “were” should be “was” as in that case the word “were” is a plural, multiple men were bitten, and “was” is singular, a man was bitten.

I didn’t have any fears before I read your blog. Now, I’m afraid of snakes, flying, and heights, lol.

Really! I have trouble with tight spaces. And, I’m afraid of drowning.

  • Reply muffincatblog August 8, 2016 at 5:03 am

    Heights and flying also. Bridges.

Believe or not, but I have a phobia of balloons!! Silly girl you might think, but in the last few years I have grown to HATE them! You just never know when they are going to go pop!

    • Reply anne leueen February 25, 2017 at 2:10 pm

I saw a documentary on phobias and balloons are up there with clowns so you are not alone.

Reblogged this on A little bit of me and commented:
Love following this lady’s blog, she literally posts about everything and anything and in such a normal, down-to-earth way.
This recent post has given me an idea for a blog post about my own (silly little) fear/phobia. I hope Miss Roberta doesn’t mind if I copy her idea for my own post. 🙂

Blood and veins…that’s my phobia ! Thank you for your article !

  • Reply anne leueen February 25, 2017 at 2:09 pm

Wasps and hornets. If one lands on me I start screaming. Ridiculous behavior and quite unlike me but I can’t help it.

  • Reply Anna February 25, 2017 at 11:13 pm

I can relate to number 3. Heights, definitely. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense to me but that’s what it is. Thanks for posting this.

My fears are snakes, falling (from heights) even though I love heights, and death.

  • Reply consciousoftheheart March 4, 2017 at 8:14 pm

Heights and bugs of all kinds I do not care for.
