I’d like to thank Roberta for having me as a guest. It’s great to be here with a new audience!
Who am I?
My name is Cynthia Mackey but most people call me Cindy and I’ve lived in Canada for my entire life. Because it is such a big country, there are many parts of my own country that I have never visited. I’m from the west coast where the weather is very mild. Though you may think of Canada as a cold, snowy place, the winters here have very few days with snow, sometimes we do not see snow for 3-4 years in a row.
I am a mother, a sister, a daughter, a teacher, a blogger and a writer. I love living near where the forest meets the mountains and the seashore. I love the nature in my corner of the world. It is a beautiful place to photograph.
What is my blog all about?
I write a blog called simply.cindy that features my passion for literacy, early learning, and young children. The tiny humans I teach are my inspiration. So if you are a parent, a teacher, a grandparent or a lover of picture books you may be interested in reading my blog. Quite often, I find my posts end up relating to all people, not just children. My goal is to offer something of value that may help someone else.
Why do I blog?
I started blogging about 2 years ago. For me it was a wonderful discovery of how regular writing can be incredibly therapeutic. But there were many more reasons for me to blog. I found it was helpful in making me a more reflective educator of young children. It gave me a chance to look back at the learning experiences each day and see how they could be further supported or enhanced. It gave me a chance to share my years of experience as a teacher with others who might be looking for ideas. It gave me a chance to share with parents some moments from their children’s day. And it helped me work on my goal: to eventually self-publish my first picture book. And finally, it gave me a voice in my little corner of the internet.
What do I value?
My blog features the things I value the most: learning through play, nature, reading, literacy, music, character building, kindness, friendship, co-operation, patience, moderation, self-confidence, perseverance, positivity and determination. I could go on, but you get the idea.
If you’ve got this far, thank you very much for reading my post. I have learned it is all about the reader and my hope is to offer something helpful or inspirational for people out there. So thank you, Roberta! Have a lovely day, everyone.
